We’ll swim, sink with Oshiomhole (sunnews)

As uncertainty grips politicians in Edo State over the July 14 gubernatorial election between Comrade Adams Oshiomhole –led Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and General Charles Airhaivbere of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), scribe of the Oshiomhole Campaign Organisation who is also the legal adviser to the government, Barrister Henry Idahagbon, has said that the Edo people are ready to swim and sink with Oshiomhole to ensure his second term ticket.

In this exclusive interview, the former founding member of PDP described Comrade Oshiomhole as a “slave driver and roller coaster” whose democratic dividends have transformed the state. He also enthused  that his sterling performances since he assumed the No1. seat of the state qualified him for a second term.

“As far as governance is concerned in Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has done marvelously well. There is no doubt about his performance in the state. We have to be honest to ourselves and leave partisan politics aside in order to appreciate what Oshiomhole has done. You have to look at Edo State’ pre- 2008 that is pre- Oshiomhole years. Before he took over the mantle of leadership in November 2008, we had a state where virtually all the infrastructure had broken down. 

 All  the roads were in a terrible mess. Benin City could have gone into Guinness Book of Records as a city with the worst roads on earth. Now that we have a man who has come to rescue the state from total collapse  why would the voters reject such a man,” Idahagbon asked rhetorically.  He maintained that Edo people will come out in millions to cast their votes for Oshiomhole on July 14.

“For the July 14th governorship election, I want to assure you that the people of this state have made up their minds to support, swim and sink with the incumbent governor to ensure his return ticket, to enable him complete the projects he has started in the state.

We are lucky to have a governor like Adams Oshiomhole I’m not given to flattery, I’m not giving to sycophantic praise, to be honest to myself, Oshiomhole is a slave driver, he is a roller coaster whose consciousness and democratic dividend has brought  total transformation to the people of the state. 

I must thank God for the opportunity  and privilege of working with such a thorough bread human being who is committed to the development of the state. He is a perfectionist always amenable to ideas and suggestions of how to take Edo to the next level. So it will be criminal for any eligible voter to vote the opposition party. 

We appreciate the fact that is not going to be an easy battle, we are aware of their antics, we are not afraid of them, we are battle ready, it is no other party than the ACN. A vote for PDP would mean taking Edo going back to square one,” he said.
